Russian Government has approved the plan for developing regulatory acts aimed at preventing fixed matches in professional sports. The bill will be implemented in accordance with the provisions of the Council of Europe (COE).
One of the main plan items is to add the definition of manipulating actions regarding sports competitions to the Law on Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation. One will also introduce to legislative acts such definitions as ‘insider information’ in sports, ‘unusual’ and ‘suspicious’ bets on sports matches.
Organizers of sports events will be obliged to take steps to prevent insider data distribution. Besides, acts will be also complemented with the previously adopted provision, prohibiting betting on competitions for children and young people. The Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation is responsible for the plan fulfilment.
