On 23 June the Russian government discussed a bill that envisages funding of sports by means of bookmakers’ revenues. Such information was given by the press service of the Russian Council of Ministers.
Organizers of gambling will be obliged to allocate a definite amount of money to the support of physical development of the population and encouragement of new sporting achievements.
Apart from bookmakers, lottery owners will also have to allocate part of their revenues to social and sporting needs.
This bill was introduced for consideration as early as 6 June.
